Brentwood Buccaneers travelled to Colchester HC to take part in the third instalment of the Essex North Minis Hockey League.
Availability this week was severely affected by a number of events including the Brentwood Remembrance Parade. However those who made it performed well against some well organised and strong oppositions.
Under 10 Boys
Solid performances from all saw a 1-1 draw and 1-0 loss to Colchester with a 0-0 and a 1-0 win against Witham.
Congratulations to Robert B (just turned age 6), Dylan F (aged 7) and our new U10s goalkeeper Charlie B (age 8) who all made their hockey tournament debuts this week.
Special thanks to Eva S for helping out (scoring and creating!) as well as playing all of the girls U10s game too.
Under 10 Girls
The under 10 girls were short this week but managed to put in some great performances by fielding just 6 players against the oppositions' 7.
According to my records they won their first four matches and drew the last game. Unbeaten on the day!
Well done, Olivia, Freya, Eva, Ruby and Louise (and Charlie B in goal)
Under 12 Boys
The Under 12 boys were "strengthened" by four of the Under 10 boys this week.
Thanks to 9 year old Jake S and the 8 year olds Scott P, Charlie S and Aiden P who were perhaps already tired from their previous games but still put in a good shift against the older boys.
Results to follow ...
Under 12 Girls
Availability issues affected the usually strong Under 12 Girls team this week.
They started their first game against Witham with only 6 players, including Jake S. Witham duly took advantage and scored from their first opportunity. Shortly after Witham extended their lead to two.
But then from over the horizon Zahra J appeared and joined the fray. This made it 7 against 7 and suddenly the game began to turn. Almost immediately Brentwood scored through Obasorekunmi O following a winding mazey run.
Both sides locked horns but neither side could score and so it ended 2 - 1 to Witham.
In their second game two Bishops Stortford girls stepped forward to enable both teams to play with 7 players. Thanks Bishops Stortford. It was a close game but the Colchester team were a well drilled team who finished their goals well. 2 - 0 to Colchester.
Next up the girls faced Bishops Stortford B team. Thank you to the two Witham girls who volunteered to help out and play for us. This game ended in 1 - 1 draw with one of our Witham guests scoring.
For the final two games Sam A stayed on after his U12 games to play for the girls. Sam's tank appeared to already be empty but a bottle of Lucozade saw him through it!
A draw to Bishops Stortford C and then a narrow loss to Colchester via a penalty corner resulted.

Please note the next tournament will be held at Brentwood on Sunday 8th December 2019.
