Brentwood 1st XI vs Colchester 1st XI

Brentwood started at a high intensity that Colchester could not match. With early threatening attacking play a short corner soon followed. The ball was whipped in from Steven Naven at the top of the circle to the waiting Ian Forbes who got a sneaky deflection to give Brentwood the perfect start. Minutes passed and another went in, this time from James Duggan, and it began to look ominous for Colchester. Brentwood kept the ball well; looking sharp after the month Christmas break, however the away side managed to bare the storm of Brentwood's domination on the pitch until half-time, as the sides went in with Brentwood in a comfortable 2 goal lead.

The second half started and it only got worse for Colchester with Brentwood attacking at ease, camped in the opposition half. Brentwood were wasteful, with some good chances going begging, but managed to finally put one away as James Duggan claimed his second of the match from close. And they kept coming, as Henry Wollaston pounced on the ball after a goal-mouth scramble to take it to 4-0. Brentwood were not done there, as wave after wave of attack led to Aaron Doyle lobbing the keeper for a delicate finish in the corner. Another opportunistic goal for Henry brought the game further away from Colcheter, as it began to look more like a training exercise than a game. Henry bagged another goal from a wonder-strike at the top of the circle which came up off the keeper for a fine finish in the roof of the net, taking his tally to three for the game. With the game won and minutes left on the clock, Brentwood were found guilty of switching-off and let in a consolidatory goal for Colchester as the game then ended 7-1.
