Big win as the Mens 1's hit their stride

Yes, you are reading that right 9-0. I am glad to say there will be no negative words in this report today as it was nothing but an amazing performance. My only criticism is that Brentwood couldn’t get it to double digits. Other than that, it was just wow. Brentwood were looking to be more positive than last week and did that by playing hockey like Barcelona played football in 2010. It was a good start to the day by watching the 2nd team breeze past their opponents and gaining confidence on the back of a very emotional speech delivered by vice-captain Guns.

The speech and inspiration from the 2s must have worked as Brentwood started well as they have in most games so far this season and continue to score first in every game through Jacob MacDonnell (snatch), a goal which was well finished after being played in by Brady Doyle. It was a confidence boost needed for him after his underwhelming goal return thus far. A start so underwhelming he was calling for his internal competition to be scraped two weeks in. 7 minutes in Brentwood 1-0 up and the first half continued to go well for them as Brentwood were all over Upminster and felt like a battering was about to happen as Brentwood seemed to like each other again. First half continued to go to Brentwood other than a surprise short corner win for Upminster, but their celebrations were cut short as Owen displayed his skills with a good save for Brentwood. Brentwood don’t let this faze them as George Lilley was able to find space, but his effort found the post, so close to two, but Brentwood's attack found its way through as the roles were reversed this time as Jacob provide Brady with his second goal of the season an average finish in my opinion. The two then indulged in a hug which made me very jealous on the side lines. My highlight of the first half is hearing everyone come of and say the same thing ‘It's a bit hot out their’ if I had to guess I heard it 100 times.

Brentwood found themselves 2-0 up at half time but with what had to be an even more emotional speech at half time from Guns, Brentwood went on to score 6 more in the second half. It started with a Derry goal that he slotted into the bottom left corner. Derry would go on in the half to score another two and got his first hat-trick of the season. The game was then paused after an Upminster player got hit in the face but with the help of the paramedic student Owen, he was able to get up and all seemed well. Brentwood where high flying as Chef was able to find the back of the net twice through two close range goals one on his reverse and another played back by Jak Taylor which was slotted in with ease. Jak was then shown green after a challenge inside Brentwood's half. Other than that, slip up it was goals from George Lilley and Wolfie finished the game off 9-0 with Upminster not given one chance to get into the game

Overall, this win sees Brentwood move joint 1st with Old Souhendiens and Plashet. With a trip away next against Chelmsford which will be a hard test for us, and it should be a good watch. Man of the match went to brady Doyle with his best performance in a Brentwood shirt so far and dick of the day went to jak Taylor for his green. Brilliant win and Chelmsford next
