First Home Win Of The Season!

Brentwood 1s vs West Herts 3s

With their first home game of the season, Brentwood were looking to continue their form from last week’s away win. As the game got under way Brentwood piled the pressure on the West Herts defence with a few half chances falling to Brentwood but where all well saved by the keeper. However as Brentwood push forward it left them open to a break away attack which West Herts took full advantage of by opening the scoring when one of their attackers stepping in front of the Brentwood defence to deflect the ball past the keeper. After going a goal down Brentwood went straight back up the other end and won the first short corner of the game which was well saved off the line by the defence. A second short corner followed which was well scored by Stephen Naven to equal the score at 1-1. With the game all square Brentwood started to relax and started playing their normal passing game which quickly resulted in two more goals scored by Aaron Doyle and Steve Gilchrist. With the first half coming to the end, Brentwood was awarded another short corner which was successfully put away by Stephen Naven for his second goal of the match. Leaving the score at the end of the first half at 4-1.

With Brentwood comfortably in charge of the match all they had to do was to stay calm and not panic. With the second half under way Brentwood seemed to lose concentration and start to introduce a few silly mistakes into to their game. This allowed West Herts to put pressure on the Brentwood defence which they took full advantage of scored an early goal to get the score to 4-2. With West Herts not allowing Brentwood to settle back into the game they continued to create chances for themselves. However Brentwood’s new goalkeeper Arwyn James was equal to all their attempts. With 15 minutes to go Brentwood started to relax and started to create some chances. One of which was a well struck shot from the top of the circle into the bottom left corner from Stephen Naven to complete his hat trick, and give Brentwood a 5-2 lead. This allowed Brentwood to start putting pressure back onto the West Herts defence, with a few chances falling to Brentwood none of which were finished. With the final whistle imminent Brentwood where awarded another short corner, which was once again flicked, passed the keeper by Stephen Naven for his fourth goal of the game. The final whistle went with Brentwood completing a comfortable win with the final score being 6-2.
