10 goal thriller !

Mens Division 2 South
Brentwood 1's 10:0 Royston 1's

Start of the hockey season and Brentwood Mens 1st team were keen to get things rolling with a win.
With a great pre season and hard training throughout the summer alongside a new management set up, things were all set for a great season ahead.
Brentwood’s first game was against Royston who last season snatched a crucial three points away from Brentwood so the men were determined to get a victory and their first win of the new season.
At home and with a big crowd to support Brentwood started off at a fantastic pace and Royston new they had a tough 70 minutes ahead of them. Soon the home side were awarded with their first goal of the game, an aerial pass from senior player Ian Forbes to the teams youngest player Alex Hynes resulted in the youngster taking the ball at the far side of the D and slotting the ball comfortably pass the keeper. Brentwood never looked back and the control of the game was securely in the home sides hands.
The 2nd 3rd and 4th goal were again all in open play and were fantastic team goals which clearly showed how much training the team had been doing together leading up to this first game.
With the half time whistle blown and the score line standing at five nil there was smiles all round for the home side but the team and captain knew there were plenty more goals to be had. The second half started with the same pace and intensity as the first and Royston just didn’t have anything to answer with.
Two early short corners straight out of the training ground got Brentwood their sixth and seventh goals.
The back four looked solid and only concede one short corner and two open play shots on goal in the whole game. With the game coming to a close there was just enough time for a few more goals and for Paul Haynes to take his goal tally for the game to four after a absolutely fantastic 70 minutes performance for the winger.
With the final whistle blown and the score line at an impressive 10-0 Brentwood were over the moon and hope to carry this early win into next week’s game when they travel away to East London.
