Men's Hockey
Division 2 South
Blueharts 2's vs Brentwood 1's
With 4 players missing from the usual starting 11 due to illness & unavailability Brentwood traveled away to Blueharts looking for the 3 points that would keep them top of the table.
First half saw spells of attacking play from both sides but the Home side struck first with a weak short corner that found its way into the back of the net through the keepers legs.
Brentwood hit back soon after with a short corner of their own, Stevie G slotting home. With a few minutes before the end of the first half and against the run of play Brentwood took the lead through a nice reverse stick finish from top goal scorer James Duggan.
Blueharts got the all important goal straight after the break with Matt Linney unfortunately deflecting the ball over Ian Malone in goal when it looked like the keeper had it covered.
Brentwood had their chances to take the lead again with a flurry of short corners which were defended well. It looked like they would hold on for a well deserved point but a defensive error let the Blueharts centre forward in to the top of the D to finish well into the bottom corner.
Final score 3-2.
First loss of the season for the Men's first eleven which now leaves them 3rd in the division & will hopefully be the wake up call they need to push to the end of the season & gain promotion.
