Brentwood 1s vs Southend 1s
Eagles bounce back !
Brentwood displayed a convincing win over Southend this weekend, after a dismal display the pervious week. Brentwood's centre forward Steven Naven kick started the game after scoring the first goal in 17 seconds. Southend had the push back however the ball was intercepted and Naven calmly side stepped the keeper slipping the ball into the goal. Brentwood continued to mount the pressure with tight marking and some slick passing. Within 15 minutes two further goals were secured with Ian forbes and Paul Haynes finding themselves on the score sheet.
Southend won a short corner 5 minutes from half time and with a well worked routine managed to slip the ball to the far post for the advancing attacker to sweep into the goal. Brentwood responded with a 4th goal minutes later from Cashel Gleeson.
half time 4-1
Southend continued to be dominated for the majority of the game however stepped up their tempo and attacking play in the second half. Brentwood's defence held fast but a lucky short corner lead to Southend's second goal. To Brentwood's credit they put their heads down and got on with the job. Two further goals from Alex Henderson and Nick Hull secured 3 more points and this well deserved victory. Final result 6 -2. Brentwood now sit 3rd position in the league, one point from 2nd place and 5 points adrift from the top.
Next league game on the 1st March sees top of the table battle versus league leaders Chelmsford.
