Brentwood 3s - 4 Upminster 3s - 4

Brentwood 3s kicked off the season with an entertaining 4-4 draw with Upminster 3s. The match did not start as planned with Upminster’s young forward catching us on the break to give the away side a lead in the second minute. That lead was doubled on fifteen minutes, seconds after Boothy saw green. However, a break from Waller on the right led to a pull back to Henry at the top of the D. He slipped a pass to Ryan who made no mistake from close range. Closing the arrears to 2-1 at half time, confidence was high going into the second period. Unfortunately, just a few minutes in, Upminster scored a scrappy goal that squeezed just inside Owen’s post. We responded well though and following some good link up play between Zesh, Sajid, Harry and Simon, we picked up a short corner. After the initial strike from Ian was saved, Simon put away the rebound. This was quickly followed by another corner which Ian despatched after a one two with Henry. Back on level terms at 3-3, the game opened up. Good saves from Owen and tackles from Pinky, Ian and Nick looked to keep the opposition at bay but an adventurous pass from the back was intercepted by Upminster’s forward line and they broke to take the lead again. Brentwood were not finished and another short was gained after Waller’s shot hit a foot. Ian stepped up again and his weaving run and strike into the bottom corner earned a share of the points! Man of the match was Captain Anderson! Great effort everyone!
