Ladies 1s beaten by Chelmsford 2s

East Women's League Division One South

Chelmsford 2nd XI 2
Brentwood 1st XI 0

The second game of the season saw Brentwood travel to newly relegated Chelmsford for what promised to be a tough local derby game. With the first push back Chelmsford soon settled into a rhythm, maintaining possession and looking to attack down both flanks. Brentwood initially held strong but the Chelmsford captain stole the ball in the midfield and created a fast break into the Brentwood circle where her strike was deflected into the goal..

Brentwood looked to step up a gear and began to push high from the back enjoying long periods of possession and attacking on both wings. The pressure from the forwards and midfield forced Chelmsford into a number of mistakes but Brentwood were unable to capitalise on their opportunities and the scoreline remained 1-0 at half time.

The second half was a more even and open affair with both teams defending well and looking to hit each other on the break. Brentwood again came close on a number of occasions but the ball just would not go in the goal. Chelmsford were equally effective going forward but player of the match goalkeeper Lorna Parsons repeatedly frustrated the home team.

Chelmsford however sealed the win when a short corner strike 5 minutes from time squeezed in and the game finished 2-0.

Brentwood are at home this Saturday and welcome Maidstone at 2pm at Becket Keys School.
