Ladies 1s win at home

A typical rainy day in England but that wasn’t going to stop the Ladies 1st Team playing a cracking game of hockey against Maidstone.

With Brentwood winning the first push back they set the standard for the type of game that was about to take place. Quick fast balls between the midfield with excellent distributions made by Nat to Kendall and Lauren allowed our attacking half to apply pressure to Maidstone and it wasn’t long before their first short corner was awarded!

Their intimidating huddle at the top of the dee paid off as Lauren took a straight stop strike and belted the ball into the bottom right corner providing Brentwood with the lead.

Lizzie and Lou continued to pressure the Maidstone defence and at half time the score remained 1-0 to Brentwood but they knew Maidstone would come back fighting.

The second half Maidstone was able to break through and win several short corners however with the tight marking and timely tackles made by Sandy, Emily, Ruth and Haylee they had limited strikes on goal, not that it held any threat with Lorna being on top form. Able to keep possession Brentwood’s defence continued to deliver the ball back to their attacking half where Charlotte, Nikki and Lucy moved the ball swiftly between themselves with a few close calls for the Maidstone defence.

Overall an excellent game to be part of! Brentwood worked hard as a team applying pressure, determination and skill across the whole pitch. The weather conditions weren’t going to stop them.
