Home point at home for L1s

Brentwood Ladies 1st XI 1-1 Bromley & Beckenham Ladies 2nd XI

After some recent defeats and a called off game the previous week, Brentwood were ready to get back out on the pitch, get some points and show Brom Breck that they weren't going to have it easy on Brentwood's home turf. The first half saw the away team applying plenty of pressure on the home teams' defence and earning themselves a short corner within the first five minutes of the match but the defence held strong. Brentwood pushed back on the away team and player of the match Lauren Slater skillfully weaved in and out of the defence to have a shot on goal, but narrowly missed.

After this close encounter Brom Beck fired back and forced Brentwood's goalkeeper Lorna Parsons into a hat-rick of saves to keep Brentwood in the game. With Brentwood awarded a free hit outside the away teams D, Louise Humphreys took the ball early and ran the ball into the D forcing Brom Beck into errors. However, Brentwood were unable to convert the resulting short corner.

The first half ended with a short corner for Brom Beck. Unfortunately the Brom Beck striker lifted her initial shot and caught the Brentwood defender Sandy Pass in the head, forcing her out of the game with a blood injury. However, the half finished all square with neither side being able to convert their chances.

Despite being down to 11 for the second half Brentwood were determined to score and a battle in mid-field ensued to get play up to the forwards. Eventually Brom Beck pushed their way through mid-field and were awarded a short corner. Once again Brom Beck could not get through the Brentwood defence and on the break, Brentwoods' mid-fielder Natalie Gilder was able to get the ball down to the away teams's D. The ball was picked up by Nikki Brimson who turned and struck an unstoppable shot into the corner of the goal to give the home team the lead.

Brom Beck kept persevering and eventually with only 3 minutes to go were a awarded a short corner. Their deflected shot hit the post and deflected in off the defender on the line to level the game. Brentwood tried hard from the re-start to earn the win but the game ended in a draw.

Next week Brentwood travel to Upminster.
