Win back at home

The team gathered early to watch England sadly lose the rugby world cup final. Looking out the window the wind and rain wasn’t being particularly inspiring and a few opted for the wimp vests to start the game.

The team got off to a flying start and piled plenty of pressure on Berkhamsted. Anna Guida, Beth James, Shirley Osmotherly-Hull and Francesca Hayden-Sims did a fantastic job in the midfield, taking the opportunities to intercept play, which helped the defensive line. Lisa Payne, Emily Walker and Natalie Gilder dished the ball nicely which helped Brentwood maintain plenty of possession. A switch round to Gilder on the right, enabled her with a lovely pass in to Osmotherly-Hull who attacked the dee for a strike on goal, which put Brentwood in to the lead. The opposition did have a couple of chances but Lorna Parsons was strong and solid, plus determined to keep a clean sheet this week (see fine section!)

Overall, Brentwood enjoyed much more possession throughout the game. Forwards Bev Simmons, Lily Wiltshire and Lauren Blackburn created several chances for the team and were unfortunate not to score another goal, Simmon’s unstoppable strike just missing the goal and penalty corners narrowly missing the inside post. The team worked really hard and didn’t stop chasing for more but the final score finished 1-0. A very pleasing and deserved win plus a clean sheet for Parsons.

It was a pleasure to have Mia play with us again who was solid in the defence line, and Marianna who worked hard when put on both in midfield and the forward line.

Man of the match went to Anna Guida for tireless work rate which was inspiring to watch. Shirley, Nat, Bev, Lisa and Lily all received votes.

Dick of the Day went to Lorna for being slightly aggressive towards the opposition but in the process did stop their forwards!!! Mrs Hayden-Sims also received some votes for thinking the whistle had gone in the game and just stopping, coach Pilch received votes for her glow in the dark trainers and just because, Mrs Walker got votes for missing the penalty corner chances.

A little shout out to the opposition who were went in to our fines book for their excellent banter after the game. The match on Saturday was an absolute pleasure to have played in.
