Brentwood Ladies 1 XI had a bright and early start on Saturday as the traveled away to Wapping. It was always going to be a tough game and Wapping started with the upper hand and enjoyed plenty of possession. Brentwood's defence stayed strong and kept Wapping's advances at bay for the beginning of the game. However, the home team soon found themselves with a penalty corner and an unfortunate deflection from a straight strike found the home team in the lead. Brentwood did extremely well to keep their heads up and fought hard to work their way back into the game. Although a number of chances to score were created in the last 10 minutes of the first half, Brentwood went into the break a goal down.

After a tough half time team talk Brentwood certainly started the second half with much more momentum and a goal shortly came when Bev Simmons calmly and firmly flicked the ball into the back of the net. This only spurred the away team on and Brentwood made several advances with the whole team being able to push up the pitch. Brentwood began to dominate and had several more chances but Wapping were proving difficult to beat. However, the breakthrough finally came just 2 minutes from the end when Lauren Slater found the backboard with an excellent strike from a tight angle in the dee to secure the win.
