Ladies 1s continue their winning form.

Brentwood ladies were away this week to local rivals Thurrock, at Palmer’s College. The Brentwood team talk was strategic and direct, the ladies had to work hard from the off and continue with the outstanding performance they displayed last week.
The first half saw both teams battle for possession and to take the lead with an early goal. Thurrock had some wide play and strong attacks but Brentwood held strong and dominated from the half way line.
Brentwood won several short corners and attacked with some excellent 1-2 passing across the width of the pitch. Lauren Slater made some fantastic runs down the left wing and swept across the pitch to open up the Thurrock defence giving Brentwood some inspiring opportunities. Brentwood finished the first half on a full attacking short corner but failed to keep the ball in play.
Both teams went into the half time break still yet to score, and looking to take control of the second half.
Thurrock started strong with a few positional changes but Brentwood soon took control and linked up their passing to camp out in the Thurrock half.
Haylee Adams took on the Thurrock attack by hard hitting and strong play out of the right defensive corner. A few Thurrock feet found themselves on the receiving end of her big hits and she eliminated any competition for the ball.
Brentwood continued to practice their short corner routines with no prevail, but finally caught the break when a series of clean passes connected Charlotte Holt to ‘cool as a cucumber’ Bev Simmons for a perfect calm flick into the Thurrock goal!!!!
That goal lifted Brentwood and they continued to press the Thurrock defence with more and more possession. All of the Brentwood defence played high and they all made superb runs into the Thurrock 25m.
Thurrock attempted to fight back and broke away on a lead run from their left winger. They won 2 short corners in the final 10 minutes which Brentwood cleared out and prevented the home side from equalling the score.
The final whistle sounded and Brentwood went home with their 4th consecutive win of the season maintaining a joint 3rd place lead in the league. No doubt a lot of work will be done on their short corner routines and Brentwood will be looking to take on top league rivals Holcombe 2s next week.
